Simplicity

I took this photograph in my apartment taking a simple hat bought in the Winona State University Union. This photograph was taken to demonstrate simplicity. I feel as though this is a good demonstration because the Warrior Head Represents our College. Not only is the Warrior Head present in the photograph, but our colors (Purple and White) are present as well. If you are even on campus during the school week you will see many people dressed in our school colors. I feel this is a good representation of Winona State University, and it also demonstrates leading lines, as well as elemental form.

I would have to say that my photographic inspiration is people, all shapes and sizes, in all different forms. I am inspired to capture moments of their lives, and to help tell their stories. You can really tell a lot about a person by looking at a photograph of them (or at least a good one.)

This semester I want to discover how to take my photography to a new level, how to develop my own style and so forth. I have had trouble learning the technical aspects up to this point so far, and I want to really learn the ins-and-outs of the camera so that I can achieve the highest quality shot possible when I go to take a picture. I am passionate about art in general, and photography to me is very big to me for that. I love all the different ways people think to show you something and it truely amazes me what the click of a shutter can capture.

Doing this artistic exploration is important not only because you learn to develop yourself as a student, but you learn to develop your own artistic style as well.
